Guilty Pleasure: Bolen
One of my favorite traditional snack is Bolen. I think it’s originally from Bandung, the town I lived in now, there are so many snack store selling it. I like to eat it for breakfast, with a cup of coffee. Because I love consume something sweets as a day starter and it comes in small package too.
Basically, Bolen is a roll of layers of thin pastry with filling inside. The traditional one have banana as a filling, the most fusion style add cheese and chocolate chips with the banana.
Lately you can find more fancy fillings, like green tea or tiramisu. But my favorite is durian filling. Yes durian is that stinky fruit. But if you are up to challenge, you can try eat durian Bolen first before you try the real fruit, because the Durian Bolen fillings is less stinky.
Try Bolen the next time you go to Bandung, ok 🙂 I promise you won’t be disappointed.
